Snapchat Plans Brings Private Event Invitations Into Chats
Snapchat Plans lets users create invite-only events, collect RSVPs and keep dates, guests and reminders connected to private conversations.
Snapchat is adding a private event-planning layer called Snapchat Plans. The feature turns the conversations where meet-ups often begin into structured invitations with a title, time, date, guest list and RSVP status.
A host can invite up to 200 mutual friends and choose dynamic Bitmoji cover art that changes as the plan develops. Invitations arrive inside one-to-one chats, where recipients can answer Going, Maybe or Can’t Go without moving to a separate event service.
Plans stay connected to friendships
A new My Plans area on the user’s profile collects current, upcoming and past events. Friendship Profiles also gain an Our Plans section showing events shared with that person. Hosts can update details or invite more people, while guests can see the full guest list and change their response.
Snap says participants receive a reminder one hour before the event. The company also plans to let people create an event directly from an existing chat, reducing the gap between agreeing on an idea and recording the details.
Private and invitation-only
Snapchat Plans are not presented as public event listings. The company describes them as private, invitation-only spaces intended for real-world gatherings among friends. That makes the product closer to a structured group-chat tool than a public discovery platform.
As with any social event feature, the guest list itself reveals information about relationships and planned activity. Users should still check who has been invited, avoid placing sensitive location details in an event shared too broadly and update or cancel a plan when circumstances change.
Why Snapchat is adding planning tools
Snap cites a survey in which 35% of U.S. Snapchat users aged 13 to 24 said they use group chats to make plans and organize events. The new feature formalizes that existing behavior rather than asking users to build a separate calendar workflow.
The company announced the feature as a rollout, so it may not appear on every account immediately. Updating Snapchat through the official app store is the appropriate first step; users should avoid third-party packages that claim to unlock it early.
