Uber Deploys ChatGPT Work to All 30,000 Employees with OpenAI
Uber has officially rolled out ChatGPT Work to its entire global workforce of over 30,000 employees, scaling up from an initial pilot program.
Uber has announced the full company-wide deployment of ChatGPT Work to more than 30,000 employees across its global workforce, starting today. The widespread rollout scales up from an initial pilot program involving 1,000 employees, marking Uber’s first enterprise-wide deployment of an agentic platform built for knowledge work.
The platform is designed to handle complex, multi-step tasks within ChatGPT Enterprise and deliver finished work. By connecting directly with everyday corporate tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Slack, the system allows personnel to research information, draft meeting briefs, build presentations, analyze data, and execute workflows across applications.
Default Models and Capabilities
Under the deployment, Uber gains access to OpenAI’s broader model portfolio. The default capability within the platform is powered by GPT-6.1 Sol, which is implemented to balance frontier performance with cost efficiency. Additionally, teams can utilize multimodal functions including voice and image generation.
To support the massive internal transition, the company is coupling the software rollout with an internal AI skills library, approved platform integrations, and dedicated employee training. These resources target multiple functional areas, including finance, operations, marketing, and product development.
Engineering and Future Outlook
While general staff adopt the new agentic tools, Uber’s software engineering and developer groups will continue relying on Codex to accelerate software creation and streamline coding pipelines.
According to statements from Uber CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga and OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman, both companies intend to release further metrics regarding adoption, specific use cases, and measurable outcomes as the widespread integration moves forward.
