Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in 27.2 update

Apple's 27.2 updates bring Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, plus conversation recall and faster responses on Apple Watch.

Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in 27.2 update

Siri AI now speaks five more languages. With the 27.2 software updates released today, Apple says its rebuilt assistant is available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, alongside English. The updates cover iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2, and Siri AI remains in beta.

To use it, you need an Apple Intelligence–enabled device with Siri and the device language set to a supported language. Apple notes that some features may not be available in all regions or languages.

What else is new in 27.2

The language expansion comes with functional upgrades. According to Apple’s release notes as reported by MacRumors and 9to5Mac, Siri AI can now recall useful context from earlier conversations — you can ask it about restaurants it recommended last week, for example.

It also draws on more personal sources: photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, your voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List on your phone. A new Excluded Apps setting on the iPhone lets you choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access from one place. On the Apple Watch, Apple says responses are faster than before.

Apple first shipped Siri AI with iOS 27 last month as a major overhaul of the assistant, built on Apple Intelligence with personal context understanding, onscreen awareness and systemwide app actions such as drafting an email or editing and sharing photos.

Not in the EU, and more languages are coming

The rollout has limits. Apple says Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and that it is “working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.” MacRumors reports it is also unavailable in mainland China, and Apple says it is not available to users under 13.

More languages are on the way: Apple says Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are coming by the end of the year.

Some server-side Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts, are subject to daily usage limits that may vary by feature and demand. Apple says expanded access to those features will be available for a fee in the future.

The updates are available now through the usual software update path on each device. On Apple Watch, installation requires the watch to be on its charger with more than 50 percent battery, per MacRumors.
