How to Shape Slides and Video Overviews Using Gemini Notebook
Learn how to use Gemini Notebook's new co-creation features to steer slide decks and video overviews step-by-step from your sources.
Google has rolled out new co-creation features for Gemini Notebook that give users more granular creative control over slide decks and video overviews. The update, announced by Senior Product Manager Viraj Doshi and Senior UX Designer Shan Wang, is deploying globally to all Gemini Notebook users over the upcoming week.
Instead of jumping directly from an initial prompt to a final generated asset, the updated creation flow steps through the process using your provided sources. This update targets practitioners and creators looking to curate presentations and videos without relying entirely on a single automated generation pass.
Steering Content and Visual Style
To begin shaping your output, start in the chat interface and ask Gemini Notebook to build a slide deck or video overview. Based on the uploaded sources, the system suggests topics to include in the artifact. Once you confirm these topics, you can steer the content further by guiding the visual style and format.
For deeper customization, turn on the new Review toggle before generating the file. With the toggle active, you can inspect the working plan inside the studio panel:
- Click Review outline notes for slides.
- Click Review producer notes for video overviews.
While reviewing, you can provide explicit additional feedback. For example, you can request an executive summary at the start of a presentation or change the sequence of a scene in a video overview. Once the outline or producer notes look correct, select Proceed to render the final artifact.
Alternative Generation Paths
The system accommodates different workflows depending on how much control you want to exert. If your initial prompt specifies exactly what you need, Gemini Notebook automatically moves straight into the review flow.
Conversely, if you prefer rapid generation without manual intermediary steps, you can bypass the review stage entirely. Simply open the studio panel, select your artifact type, leave the review toggle off, and have Gemini Notebook produce the files automatically as it did previously.
