Cloudflare Birthday Week 2026: cf CLI, EmDash CMS and 46 Launches
Cloudflare shipped 46 announcements during Birthday Week 2026, including the cf CLI, the Forge SDK pipeline, the EmDash CMS and Vinext 1.0 for Next.js on Vite.
Cloudflare marked its 16th birthday with 46 announcements during Birthday Week 2026, held the week of September 28, and the company says the theme was building a better Internet for a world where automated traffic has surpassed human activity for the first time. The wrap-up post, published October 5 and written by Carlos Armada and Meagan Gamache, groups the launches by day: open source on Monday, application security and the post-quantum transition on Tuesday, new economic models for the agentic Internet on Wednesday, Developer Platform tools for data analysis, storage, AI and agent development on Thursday, and speed and usability features to close the week.
An agentic CLI and an open source SDK pipeline
The week opened with cf, a new command-line interface that Cloudflare describes as mirroring the Cloudflare API, with JSON-first output and typed configuration, giving people and agents one consistent CLI. It shipped alongside Forge, a pluggable open source pipeline that runs in CI to generate SDKs, CLIs and documentation directly from API definitions.
Cloudflare also introduced EmDash, which it calls the spiritual successor to WordPress: an open source, Astro-based serverless CMS that runs plugins in isolated Worker sandboxes with explicitly approved capabilities. Interns contributed to EmDash, post-quantum visibility, CryptoLabe and Protected Quick Tunnels, according to the company.
VoidZero, Vinext and a browser for agents
Four months after VoidZero joined Cloudflare, the company says it has delivered more than 80 releases across the Vite ecosystem, and that VoidZero’s previously commercial Void platform will become fully open source. Vinext 1.0 turns an AI-built experiment into what Cloudflare describes as a production-ready, portable way to run Next.js applications on Vite.
Kitesurf, the Workers-based browser for agents, gains WebMCP support, faster DOM operations, broader web compatibility and terminal-based rendering. Cloudflare also published BEACON, making billions of anonymized real-user performance measurements from 10,000 major websites available as a public BigQuery dataset, and added experimental Emscripten target support for wasm-bindgen so developers can bring more native Rust libraries to Workers.
If you build on Cloudflare, the practical takeaway is that the CLI, Forge, EmDash, Vinext and the BEACON dataset are the pieces you can pick up now; the full list of all 46 announcements is in Cloudflare’s Birthday Week 2026 wrap-up post.
